The Sunriver Police Department is located at 57455 Abbot Drive, which is in between Circles 3 and 4, next to the Sunriver Owner's Association, and the Sunriver Fire Department.

Officers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In case of an emergency, please call 911. For non-emergencies, you may call the Non-Emergency Dispatch center at (541) 693-6911.

Roadside parking is not allowed in Sunriver.  Vehicles must be parked on the paved portion of the residential driveway or in designated parking spots at businesses.  No vehicles shall be parked so as to inhibit the passage of emergency vehicles or snowplows. In addition, roadside parking or idling for purpose of unloading or loading watercraft (Kayaks, Paddleboards, Tubes etc.) is prohibited in Sunriver and can land you a ticket of $250!

Subject to all other conditions, Recreational and utility vehicles and related equipment may be parked unenclosed on a temporary basis for 48 hours within a seven (7) day period. In the event of emergency or other unusual circumstance as determined by SROA, recreational and utility vehicles and related equipment or other disabled vehicles may be parked unenclosed for additional periods, not to exceed five (5) consecutive days with a dated SROA permit.
 

Prior to your event, you may fill out a special event parking permit and submit it to the Police Department. The form is available here. Sunriver Police will review your request, and if granted, we will permit parking along the roadside for the duration of the event. Vehicles must all be parked along the same side of the road, to permit passage of emergency vehicles. Non compliance will result in loss of roadside parking during the event.  Overnight roadside parking is not allowed in Sunriver.  The Special Event Parking Permit is located under the "Forms" section on this website.

Yes, Oregon State Law 814.485 states that if the bicycle rider is under the age of 16, they are required to wear a helmet. Sunriver Rules and Regulations section 2.03G require cycle operators AND passengers, under the age of 16 to wear helmets.
 

Upon approaching the round-a-bout, you must yield to the immediate traffic within the round-a-bout and turn right.  Failure to do so, may result in a traffic citation (ORS 811.265).  Never turn left in a traffic circle.  You may drive continuously around the round-a-bout until you reach your exit. Before exiting, you must use your turn signal (ORS 811.400).  If you miss your exit, do not back up in the circle.  Continue around the circle until you reach your exit again.  
 

No; however, pets should not be permitted to run loose or be left unattended outside of the residence. Dogs should be under the complete control of a capable person either on a leash, or under effective voice control at all times. Persons walking dogs should have a leash in their possession at all times.  Dogs should not be tethered or on leash while along side a bicycle.
 

If you see a dog or other animal left alone in a hot car, take down the car’s color, model, make, and license plate number. Call Non-Emergency dispatch immediately at (541) 693-6911. An officer will come to the scene and investigate the call.  Every year, dogs and other animals suffer or die when their owners make the mistake of leaving them in a parked car—even for “just a minute”—while they run an errand. With the heat in our area, parked cars are deathtraps for dogs: On a 78-degree day, the temperature inside a parked car can soar to between 100 and 120 degrees in just minutes, and on a 90-degree day, the interior temperature can reach as high as 160 degrees in less than 10 minutes. Animals can sustain brain damage or even die from heatstroke in just 15 minutes. Beating the heat is extra tough for dogs because they can only cool themselves by panting and by sweating through their paw pads.

While Sunriver is a great place to visit and vacation with your four legged friends, we ask that if you take the extra minute to check ahead to make sure pets are allowed at your destinations. If they are not, the best thing to do is leave them at home.

There are multiple places to access the Deschutes River in or near Sunriver. Places you can access for free are at Harper's Bridge, Besson Day Use, and the Circle Seven Canoe Takeout. For a fee, you can put in or takeout at the Sunriver Marina, however if you rent watercraft from them, the fee is waived. If you have a Sunriver Homeowners I.D. or a SHARC pass, you can access and use the Sunriver Homeowners Dock next to the Sunriver Marina. For more information on river floats, click HERE.
 

On the bike paths in Sunriver, you can ride a scooter, ride a bicycle/tricycle, or walk. No skateboards, one wheels, or electric scooters are allowed on the bike path. If you would like to ride an E-Bike on the paths, it must be a level one pedal assist bike. It should not have a throttle. This is mostly because our bike paths are very busy, so having higher speed bicycles on the bike path can be quite dangerous for riders and pedestrians. 

The flight of unmanned aircraft, to include drones, is prohibited in Sunriver, unless permitted by the Sunriver Owner's Association General Manager through a permit process.  Contact SROA at (541) 593-2411 with questions. You must produce your permit if contacted.  Violation of this rule constitutes a Class A Offense, which is punishable by a fine of $2500.
